A Sense of Place

Throughout my travels over the last few years, I have come to understand just how deeply my surroundings shape my work. The distinct identity, emotional weight, and character a place holds for me is what creates a sense of place, and those connections are where my ideas take form. Connections I feel an instant urge to visualize.

In this collection of painted abstracted landscapes, color and form are only part of the story. Working from photo references and memory, I builds compositions rooted in real locations while leaving room for something less fixed: a sense of place that may be known, or entirely imagined.
